The Woodlands, Texas
It occurred to me, after getting so many web hits from the California posts that I did, that I should do some blogs on The Woodlands, Texas. This is especially true since I own a small Apartment Locating firm in Texas, Luxor Leasing & Real Estate, LLC and I find people often move here for work, having done little research on the different areas and what may or may not appeal to their personal lifestyle.
I've often received phone calls from families moving to Texas from out of state, for work and have never actually been to Houston or spent enough time to know where they really want to live. That's the part that's hard to gage. I had a single male moving to Houston for a great new job in the world famous Medical Center . He was coming from Chicago. His main criteria was that he claimed to desire a place that was on a bus line in the city, since Medical Center Parking is expensive and difficult to acquire.
After spending a whole day touring apartments with him in Houston, I figure out that his main motivation in finding a place, was to be within walking distance to a strip of bars and nightlife, due to fear of getting a DWI! Ugh!
So for people moving to the Houston area for work, I thought it might be beneficial to highlight certain areas around the city, and this, my friends...is The Woodlands.
So The Woodland's and Spring areas are a great place to live and work, and many people are moving here from California due to the economy and here's my quick view on The Woodlands, Texas...and what it's about! These are a few pics I snapped last weekend on an intimate night out for two.
The Woodland's is a burb about 30 minutes north of Houston, just on the edge of Spring. The Woodland's Mall is the epicenter of the area, with "Market Street" close by as well as the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
Exxon Mobil has a tremendous construction project underway, in which they are building multiple sites on their 385 acre tract of land. The project is to be completed in full by 2015. The plan is to move multiple facets of the operation to one central area, The Woodlands. It's transferring in employees from Akron, Ohio and Virginia and the final tally is estimated around 10,000 employees all located at this one campus. This is going to be a major boost to the area's economy, which was already better than most.
For entertainment, there are tons of places to park and walk and shop and eat! We ate at Grimaldi's which has literally the best pizza we've had in our entire lives. The menu also offers Greek salad and many other options.
There's also outdoor seating which is romantic and has great views of the fountain area across the street.
The Woodland's Waterway is an area close to the mall that is sprinkled with high rise living, business offices as well as restaurants and night life.
Baker Street Pub is good for a rowdy night out on the weekend, and there is usually a decent cover band there doing fabulous renditions of Journey and Rick Springfield hits.
If hanging out in the street isn't your thing, don't worry, Fellowship of The Woodlands Church is located here as well.
It's one of the ten largest churches in the US, but still has a small church feel and the teachings are Bible based. There are plenty of programs in place for singles, married couples and children. The ministry reaches across the globe with different missions in place.
Market Street at The Woodland's is also great shopping and family fun...or you could hang out at Tommy Bahama's or Jasper's at Market Street for some "cougar-in-action" watching, a drink at the bar and some great dining. The area boasts a Tiffany & Co store as well as a new Michael Kors!
There is so much more to The Woodlands area. It's a beautiful, master planned community and a wonderful place to call home!
